At its November Board of Directors meeting, the VTIA voted to adopt the fictitious "doing business as" name Virginia Broadband Industry Association (VBIA) to better describe the direction of the Association and the members' focus on providing broadband services to Virginia's homes and businesses.

Emergency Broadband Benefit Program to Start May 12
The FCC has announced that the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, the $3.2 billion federal initiative created by Congress to help lower the cost of broadband for certain households, will launch on May 12. Many VTIA member companies are participating providers in the program and can begin enrolling eligible households into the program to receive program-supported service, and households will also be able to check their eligibility directly by using the National Lifeline Eligibility Verifier consumer portal at GetEmergencyBroadband.org.
